Salons have been popular in Europe since the 16th century, especially in France during the 18th century. Salons were a space where artists and writers could learn, share and grow. They were especially popular with women. In those days salons were a rare place where women could share their artistic ideas, get support and have their creative voices heard.
I am starting a Mixed Media Salon for my past students. I will be available to help with your projects, support your creative process, teach new techniques. Every week there will be new collage papers, paints and other useful art supplies. You bring whatever you want to work on - canvas, paper, board etc., brushes and your own favorite art supplies.
There will be two dates each month for November, December and January. Starting in February there will be a salon each Thursday.You can sign up to come occasionally, a couple times a month or weekly. Every few weeks I will post a list of dates that you can sign up to attend. I have nearly 40 students and will only have 8 spaces available each week. So once I send you the open dates, you will probably want to sign up for the salon dates you want as soon as possible. Salons will be from 1-4 pm on my patio in San Antonio Tlayacapan.
Each salon fee is 500 pesos. You will pay in advance to save your space. Below are the November, December and January salon dates.
This is going to be a great way to be a part of an ongoing artist community and to make artist friends. My classes have been filled with fun, joyous, supportive, creative students. You are going to like everyone. I hope you can join us occasionally or weekly. Whatever works best for you.
